Description
This was a piece that I painted and felt moved to create. It is a woman in pain but not allowed to show her pain. You can only see it in her eyes. She has echoes of many cultures in her face and hair: Native American, Middle Eastern, Hispanic, and more. This piece shows the pain that sex slaves, the trafficked, the oppressed feel. People have stood in front of this piece and teared up. An autistic boy, upon being asked what this painting was about, stated, "the woman's house is burning and she can't do anything about it." The textured arches slice down into the woman's core representing the pain that stabs down into the very being of these women. The red represents the extreme emotion that is felt but buried where they are not allowed to show...
